1. Tell us about yourself. What are your interests outside the studio?

I am sort of a local.  I moved here at the end of elementary school from outside of Chicago.  I’m a huge Chicago Cubs fan and was thrilled when they finally won the world series.  I graduated from Mary Washington College (now University of Mary Washington) and attended graduate school at James Madison University.  I have a huge interest in European, specifically British history, and I hope to get back to Ireland and Scotland for my birthday. Outside the studio I play on a women’s soccer league in Fairfax County.  I’ve played soccer since I was 5 years old.  It was the first team sport I tried and it stuck!  I’m an avid reader and I really love to bake.  I made wedding cakes, birthday cakes, shower cakes and the like.  I’ve been known to whip up a batch of cookies, just because, and take them to work.  I also enjoy spending time with my 10 month old hound/ pointer mix, Annie.  I adopted her in October 2017.

2. When did you start Pilates?

I started pilates about 10 years ago.  The studio I was attending closed and I had been unable to find a studio I liked until I stumbled upon REV.

3. What drew you to REV Pilates Gym?

I randomly searched for a studio one day and saw that REV was about 10-15 min from my house.  I tried a drop in mat class and just really liked the vibe of the instructor and the people in the class.

4. What positive changes have you seen since you joined?

Two years ago, I completely tore my ACL and meniscus and required surgery.  I took a full year off from playing soccer and frequent running.  I knew what Pilates had done for me in the past and knew that combining it with my rehab/ weight training would be beneficial to my recovery. My knees are so much stronger.  My core is probably the strongest it’s ever been and I just feel an overall sense of flexibility and strength..

5. What keeps you coming back?

I keep coming back because I really enjoy the classes and the people.  I see some of the same faces on Saturdays and Sundays and it just makes it that much more enjoyable.  I also like that each of the instructors really take into account your body and adapt movements for you.  I don’t think I could have progressed or succeeded without them.
