1. What results have you seen from Pilates? (Expected and unexpected)
Deciding to start Pilates, I was hoping to gain greater flexibility along with developing a stronger and more stable core. I still have a long way to go, but I can certainly see a change. Along the way, I (sometimes painfully) discovered muscles that had only been names from old physiology textbooks – gluts, abductors, etc. Generally, these “discoveries” took place the morning after a session with Andrea or Erika.
2. What is Pilates’ biggest impact to your daily routine or favorite activities?
More stamina, as well as another 10 plus yards with all of my clubs are two of the major side benefits I’ve found. Clothes also fit differently.
3. How long have you been practicing Pilates and how did you find REV Pilates Gym?
I have only been doing Pilates for a little over a year. I was dating a woman at the time who was in amazing shape. She told me she had been taking Pilates classes for more than a decade. She was all the convincing I needed. I stumbled across REV Pilates Gym through the internet. It was close, and it had consistently excellent reviews. I could not be more pleased with my choice. All of the instructors are great, with a special shout out to Erika and Andrea who continue to put up with me each week.
4. Tell us about you! Share your background, family, interests, etc.
I was widowed about two years ago and have two grown daughters – one a teacher in New Jersey and the other interning as a Literary Agent in New York. The oldest is getting married in June, so planning the wedding is keeping me busy. I am managing partner in a small consulting firm specializing in environmental regulation. I spend as much free time as I can playing golf, and I have been trying to spend more time in Venice, FL, where I also have a house.
