1)What results have you seen from Pilates? (Expected and unexpected)
Pilates has increased my mental and physical strength more than I could have imagined. After reading about Pilates, I had expected certain physical changes in my body such as more toned muscles, a stronger core, and increased flexibility. However, I had not anticipated the impact Pilates would have on me mentally, improving both my focus and overall mindset. An additional unexpected outcome of Pilates was been the positive feedback from medical professionals, including OBGYNs and physical therapists, throughout my twin pregnancy. These professionals commented on how beneficial Pilates would be for my body both during my pregnancy and delivery. As one can imagine, a twin pregnancy has many challenges. Through the various group classes I attended at Rev through the 28th week of my pregnancy, I was able to maintain a modified level of physical fitness, and felt prepared for my twins’ delivery.
2)What is Pilates’ biggest impact to your daily routine or favorite activities?
As new twin mom, Pilates is helping my body return to my “pre-pregnancy norm.” Pilates and TRX has positively impacted both my endurance and mindset when caring for my twelve week old babies. Although I have always been an active person, enjoying hiking, gardening and traveling, tending to newborns and lugging around baby gear is quite taxing! I attribute much of my daily strength to Pilates and TRX, which have also helped me to master the art of pushing a double stroller while walking our highly energetic dog!
How long have you been practicing Pilates and how did you find REV Pilates Gym?
I began practicing Pilates on the reformer in 2012 while I lived in New York. Upon moving to Virginia, and being new to the area, I found REV through an internet search and continued my Pilates instruction, with a combination of mat classes, TRX and Barre at REV. After experiencing the welcoming atmosphere, where I felt motivated and challenged, I quickly knew REV was the perfect fit for me!

A New Yorker at heart, the move to Virginia for my husband’s career five years ago was quite an adventure. I have been an elementary school teacher for nine years, with certifications in special education and literacy. My husband, Joe, and I were blessed with twin boys, Chase and Owen, this past July, which has certainly added a new dimension to our family dynamic! They joined their fur brother, our dog Tobin, to complete our family.
