The Celery Juice Movement

It finally happened.  I was checking out at the grocery store with 14 bunches of celery and the clerk asked, “Are you Juicing?” I’ve been juicing celery every morning since January and until that day, I’ve only received strange looks but never any questions. I felt a bit of validation that someone finally understood! 

I follow Anthony William, the Medical Medium, on Social Media because…well, he’s brilliant.  One day, I was reading through the extensive healing qualities of celery juice and since I’ve been struggling with unexplained health issues for years, I figured it couldn’t hurt to try.

Motivated by this impressive list, I committed myself to trying for at least a month. Some people claim to see major life changes in days or weeks, so I admit to feeling underwhelmed when 30 days passed and there was no change.  For the past 4 years, I’ve felt like a guinea pig to holistic doctors who have tried to cure my sudden and inexplicable fatigue, weight gain, fogginess, moodiness, breakouts, dry skin, joint pain, headaches, etc, etc, etc. So, when I didn’t see immediate results from celery juice, I mentally put it in the “disappointment” category that I have so much stock in.  However, the celery wasn’t making anything worse and it wasn’t a conflict with my normal clean diet so I continued juicing daily.  What was the harm?

Around the 3-month mark, I started noticing small things. My skin was brighter.  People commented that I looked rested and had lots of energy.  I didn’t need to drink coffee every day –  some days I brewed it out of habit alone, but found that I was washing out a full tumbler at the day’s end.  I’d shrug off compliments and didn’t pay much attention to the decline in caffeine consumption until a few weeks later when BIG things started happening. 

The stubborn weight that I gained and wouldn’t budge (despite every reasonable and unreasonable effort) started coming off.   It occurred to me that I hadn’t worn my knee brace to play tennis in more than 6 weeks.  Eating a salad didn’t feel like Thanksgiving dinner anymore – leaving me bloated, uncomfortably full and tired. My knees weren’t hurting when I climbed a flight of steps.  My skin was clear.  My liver numbers, blood pressure and thyroid numbers were back to normal.  I generally felt good. 

Then it hit me.  The celery juice is fixing my body!

How To Consume Celery Juice

Ingredients: 1 large bunch celery.

Directions: Rinse the celery and run it through a juicer. You want to aim for at least 16 ounces of fresh celery juice.

Drink first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. Don’t consume anything for at least 15-30 minutes afterwards for best results.

*When first drinking celery juice, plan to stay at home for an hour or so as it can make you feel sick initially. I didn’t experience this, but I’ve read numerous accounts from others, so just sayin… Consider yourselves warned!*
